About Monark foundation, inc.

In January 1997, Monark Equipment, the sole authorized dealer of Caterpillar heavy equipment and generator sets in the Philippines established the Monark Foundation Technical Institute (MF). Ana Banson-Pastelero and Jose Antonio Banson, the children of Onofre Banson (1920-1992) who was the owner of Monark Equipment, conceptualized a Technical School that would help the less privileged but determined youth become highly skilled and value laden heavy equipment technicians.

A few months after its inception, MF accepted its first batch of male scholars for Heavy Equipment Servicing (HES). It occupied a small building in the Monark compound in Libis, Quezon City.

In October 1999, MF became an accredited educational institution under the Dual Training System (DTS) of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). This paved the way for partnership with industry leaders who received the scholars of MF as trainees in their companies. Soon, there was a growing demand for HES graduates in the Philippines as well as in other countries.

Because of its benevolent nature, MF applied for certification as a Non-Government Organization at the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC). As a non-stock, non-profit organization focused on helping the less privileged youth of society, the Monark Foundation, Inc. was granted certification in May 2002.

The same year, MF open its doors to female Automotive Technology scholars. As beneficiary institution of the Expansion of Dual Education and Training (EDET) Project of TESDA, where the Philippine government acquired a soft loan from the German government to provide the latest equipment in a different trade areas of technology, MF soon delivered the most updated Automotive training using the state-of-the-art German equipment it received and the industry training provided by its industry partners.

In December 2004, MF received the DTS Best Practices Model Award for the National Capital Region from TESDA, in recognition of its efforts to provide its scholar the required skills and competencies that are needed by the Philippine heavy equipment and automotive industries.

In October 2006 MF was recognized as Best Performing EDET Project Beneficiary Institution by TESDA and KFW. On the same year, MF and Victory Liner Corp. received the National Award for Best DTS Practices Model.

In June 2007, MF was accredited by SAskatchewan Government of Canada as Assessment and Training partner in Heavy Equipment trades in the Philippines.

In 2008, the new branch of Monark Foundation was established in Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City which started the first batch of MI Technicians for the World Program. The program’s objective was to train the world-class technicians for CAT dealers around the world.

In 2010 the first batch of 63 scholars for the Technicians for the World Project graduated.

In 2012, MF was awarded with a 5 Star by the CAT Institute Technical Training Solution on Learning Capability Assessment Tool.

July 2016, Monark Foundation, Inc. started to offer the Senior High School Plus Program under the Technical Vocational track: Heavy Equipment Servicing NC II, under the supervision of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
